The Times

Lyrics

(verse 1)

Waking up in this place I knew
The window’s stained but the sun shines through
It’s not the same my friend
I’ve lost to gain what I feel
But it’s nothing new
No I’ve already seen this through

(pre chorus)

And I feel cold
As I try and wonder
How I made it back
Into my home

(chorus)

I miss you x3
All of you

(verse 2)

Stranger days have drifted by
These familiar walls refuse to lie
It’s not the same my friend
It’s too strange to feel
This all again
Oh it all again with you

(pre chorus)

And I feel cold
As I try and wonder
How I made it back
Into my home

(chorus)

I miss you x3
All of you

(bridge)

And what will it take to see this through?
And how do I feel when I love you?
Take me back to all the times when it was true
For us…

(chorus)

I miss you x3
I love you

Story

The Times” is another song exploring my constant nostalgia but this one ties both the past and present together as they meet again for the second time. This track basically describes getting a second chance to go back to the place that you’ve desired more than anything but to arrive at a much different time. It talks about how many things at such a place have remained the same but on the other end people, relationships and other things have changed entirely. So this song really talks about the conflicting emotion of getting something back that you thought you had lost forever but receiving it in a way that is completely different. For this track in particular it is the idea of going back home to a place once filled with the people you loved most but upon your arrival, you’ve realized that everyone has gone away. So in the lonely nostalgia of being in such a place, the walls are all that’s there to reminisce with you as your heart aches for the return of the companions you once had.
