Questions Without Answers

Lyrics

(verse 1)

Where are you tonight?
You’re starting to give me a fright
Are you feeling alright?
Is your heavy burden feeling light?

(pre chorus)

And where have you gone now?
Why have you left me here?
Are you broken on the ground?
Is your body filled with fear?

(chorus)

And I can’t feel
You anymore
What is real?
’cause I don’t know

(verse 2)

Is there any life left in you?
Does your mind remember what’s true?
Is there anything that you can do?
Anyway that you can make it through tonight?

(pre chorus)

And where have you gone now?
Why have you left me here?
Are you broken on the ground?
Is your body filled with fear tonight?

(bridge)

And are you ever coming home?
And are you ever going to be done being alone?

And what the hell am I supposed to do?
When I have no control over you
I hate the choices that you’ve made
But my love for you will never change

Even if you go away
I will follow you someday

(chorus)

’cause I can’t feel
You anymore
What is real?
’cause I don’t know

Story

Questions Without Answers” is the oldest song on the EP. I wrote it back in 2009 and it’s stayed with me ever since. It is probably the most sentimental song that I’ve ever written and it was born out of extreme pain, anguish and fear. The feel of the song musically and lyrically is the dance of sorrow and fear in a haunting ballet. It is the reflection of hopelessness and loss as if it had already come to pass. ┬áThe song imbues overwhelming loneliness and suffering as it relentlessly asks questions to an answerless void. Perhaps the answers never existed to begin with. It is the realization of a great fear having finally manifested and the utter brokenness it has left behind. It doesn’t describe it lyrically but the song sings a parallel story of an empty shell of a person without the will to go on as a result of such life shattering events. It is a melody of despair that offers the only comfort of the idea of reunion in death. But as it ends all that remains is a lonely emptiness that will never be vanquished for as long as life courses through this body, stained with the haunting memory of death.
