It’s the Waiting that’s Killing Me

Lyrics

(verse 1)

Sit alone and contemplate my life and who I really am
Never thought that it would be like this when I devised my master plan

(pre-chorus)

Now I wonder what it’s like to really feel alive
’cause I’m wasted, I’m worn, I’ve tried

(verse 2)

Spent the years trying to make sense of my past life events
Everything seems so pointless now so my head is hung to the ground

(pre-chorus)

And I wonder what it’s like to live outside my head
Can I enchant this dread? No I can’t

(chorus)

Wait for a new design
For the stars to align
For something divine to show me where to go

(bridge)

When will I finally be free?
Because it’s the waiting that’s killing me

(chorus)

Wait for a new design
For the stars to align
For something divine to show me where to go

I hate how there’s never time
For me to feel fine
I need a sign or I’m gonna lose my mind

Story

It’s the Waiting that’s Killing Me” pretty much sums up the message of the song. It’s essentially about treading on and on in every day life and truly feeling like you’re making no progress. Not even just feeling that but literally having your life reflect back to you that truth. It’s about the same problems showing up again and again and the frustration of things not improving, despite tremendous efforts. The song also talks about past trauma and hardship and how that applies to present life. It explores it’s relevance to today and how to make sense and move on from such experiences. Essentially the song reaches no conclusion and remains in it’s asking state of “why” and “when” will things change for the better. It wraps  up by basically saying, if things don’t change I’m going to lose my beans.
